Optical or Laser wireless mouse?

What are the advantages/disadvantages between an optical vs laser wireless mouse? I am replacing my mouse and was wondering which style worked best/easiest to use. I am currently using a laser wireless which is mostly satisfactory except that it tends to "wander"in different directions sporadically. This usually happens at very inoppurtune times. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
