Question

Optical drives keep opening

Apr 4, 2017 5:49PM PDT

A very odd thing happened to me today - I got my system all corrected and running correctly, so I thought making a rescue disk would be a good idea - Windows 7 - 64 --

I executed the command and put in a CD, but the alert prompt said no media inserted - and the drive opened by itself - repeatedly. So I tried the other drive - also the same. So I gave up. Now the 2 optical drives open no matter how many times I close them manually, and even after booting the system again they still insist on opening no matter how many times I close them.

Anybody ever heard of anything like this or any solution to make them stay closed?

Thanks

Unplug the data cable and leave the power to the drive. Does it stay closed now?

I'm sure what you did makes perfect sense to you but members are too far away to see your machine.
