Question

Optical audio splitters

Sep 8, 2017 4:00AM PDT

I want to connect my LG TV from the optical output to an exterior soundbar (for my wife to control) and a transmitter for my hearing aids (for me). Both soundbar and hearing aid transmitter have optical inputs and both need to operate simultaneously. I have tried a passive splitter (no power input) and it didn't work. Any suggestions for a solution?

I found these to be hit and miss. Since they didn't work we moved to old school wired splitters or another solution like the headphone jacks on a receiver.

Since it is a soundbar, just get some optical to analog convertor then split the analog out to two places. Cables, convertors are numerous on Amazon so stick in the top 20 lists there.

Thanks, I am using the optical output because the analog line out connection on my TV is knackered. I will take up your suggestion unless anyone comes up with a decent optical splitter
