Podshow is doing some really awesome things. I wonder if CNET is going to be a sponsor or them or something like that.

I don't have one.

I found this on iTunes, and I wanted to see what y'all thought before I made any snap judgements.

But I guess wearing tiny tank tops and flirting with the camera is as good a means of delivering the tech news as any.

I liked how it was produced. Other than the clothes change.

I am giving this little ditty the time to mature. I haven't been to crazy about it. My mom calls me the family curmudgeon, so I may sound like I am dis-sing this but I am not, just that I am not a fan of "cute".

Production value is good, but this secrect society thing has to go. I only say that because it is irrelavant, if she wanted it to have the feel that your into something cool and hush hush, then why not make the production feel like it. Instead you get cute hello boo-boo kiddy cute stuff.

The info is old news and isn't offering anything that has not already been said and done by more of the incumbant podcasters.

And the begging for votes... give it a rest. PLEASE.

But as I said, I think that as it matures and they have figured out how they want to take it to where they want it, it will truly become a gem of the video podcasts. So it remains on my watch list.

It seems well-organized and produced. It reminds me of Rocketboom a little bit. I also appreciate the length. I don't have time to see a 30 minute vidcast, so a good 5-10 minute one works out great.

I like it. Calli (aka Luria) is funny, and the episodes are nice and short. She does tend to giggle and laugh a little too much, but it's still informative and fun. Never would have found out about the dancing fish without it! Happy

No need for Video.

I just saw the latest episode with her talking in her grey shirt. now, i didn't watch the rest, but if they're all in the same style, there really isn't a need to make it a video podcast. Simply an audio podcast would do, there wasn't anything that cued for a visual element in the podcast, besides looking at someone talk. Now, if it it's only released as a video podcast, they're losing alot of listeners who listen to podcasts on their podcast and don't have a video ipod, such as me for example, i only have my nano, and i either have to watch this podcast on my laptop or download linux onto my nano to give it video capabilities.

simply, if you just want to listen to the information of the podcast, there is no need to make it video. Just make is a sound file. it gets boring just watching someone talk as opposed to listening to them talk instead.

Diggnation as tech news?
by ajurina / March 29, 2006 5:06 AM PST
In reply to: correction...

I've been listening/watching diggnation for a couple of months now, and I've finally decided that watching two guys get drunk in front of a video camera while blurting out random foul words and discussing random topics on gets kind of old for me. If I had to choose between the two, I'll take the chick with the *****. Luckily, I don't have to choose either. Something more professional, like DL.TV with P. Norton is more worthwile if you are going to watch a vidcast.

DLTV With The Ads

Summary Tech News by Podcast
by boringcom / March 30, 2006 4:11 AM PST

For myself I find a combination of BOL, DL.TV, TWiT, Slashdot Review, and monitoring the RSS feeds from TechCrunch and Digg keep me mostly up to date. Props to CommandN as well - Canadian Content!

Geekbrief - Luria's a geek but the package is distracting and there's a bit too much fangirl burbling.

Patrick Norton is The Man - even if he says he's Dvorak with less Cranky and lacking the business sense.

Geek Soft Porn

In reply to: opinions, please

I'm not a big fan of talking head video podcasts. The video should really add something besides a pair of breasts to the experience. As for their godaddy wardrobe change. Tasteless. But then I have grown to expect that from GoDaddy, it's just too bad GeekBrief has bought into it.

It's certainly hard to take the host seriously after that decision.

Cali is really good

Ok, so I watched the entire last episode. Not only is it well produced, but Cali has lots of talent. It isn't easy to stand in front of a camera and record an entertaining show. The Go-Daddy commercial break was a little revealing, but the show in itself is wonderful.

Great effects, awesome acting, and very good content. I'll give it a 4.5 out of 5. Thanks!

...however, I think that Cali is a bit too ditsy sounding. I'm sure that its her personality, but she needs to scale back on the "Hi, I'm cute and I'm doing a vidcast" image a tad. Other than that, I'd say that the show is well done all around.

First off, some of you are way too uptight about your podcasting expectations. besides learning a heck of a lot, it is supposed to be entertaining.

ajurina, of course it reminds you of Rocketboom. It has the same formula: cute girl being silly+fast talking geeky stuff+very tight shirt. Most nerds will probably have to watch it twice, because as soon as the wardrobe change came up, they get distracted and forget to listen.

But I am not knocking Geekbrief, I did like it (I'm being a guy too) and they are upfront describing themselves as ''the hottest way to get your tech news'' so you can't really criticize the format. Is there anything better than a cute nerdy girl? I think not. I predict that more models will be cast to host video podcasts in the future to stand out from the crowd.

and now on itunes I read that sometimes she does a little dance...oh boy.

Production value: good
girl: cute
tshirt: very tight
info: I am just starting my coffee so it was a little bit of information overload.

Sometimes the green screen haze drives me crazy, others times it is not as noticeable. The ditziness( sp?) can drive me crazy, and random dancing with a robotic fish is really strange... I keep watching, hoping for improvement, and knowing that the production value is growing. I've also emailed a bit with Cali and they are very heavily dedicated and open to feedback, so I stay subscribed.

I question whether she is a real nerd. In Episode#1 she butchered the name of "...that blink guy from Star Trek Generations, Geordi?" which she pronouced jee-or-dee rather than jor-dee (with the silent e). Typical noob mistake.

I do give her credit for trying, and she looks like she would be fun to drink with, so thumbs up. Imagine if she took up drinking on the show, it would be the ultimate combo of tikibar, rocketboom and diggnation. Wink
