Apr 17, 2007 5:53AM PDT

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is possible to run Access on Scientific Linux 4.4? Something we are trying to do were I work and we are having trouble getting a strait answer from the vendor?
Any ideas?

Thanks

Little confused hear, are you saying instead of Scientific Linux use Citrix server? And if you saying that are you saying no to my original question can I run Microsoft Acces on Scientific Linux? And yes I am "hogtied" to Access and to the Linux.

What I skipped to was a solution.

"It" runs on one machine but is presented on another. This is a solution for those that can't cut loose.

Sorry if you didn't get the solution as presented. Are you familiar with how X Windows works?

"it is possible to run Access on Scientific Linux 4.4?" = NO

But there are workarounds and solutions. I noted the best solution but you didn't seem to understand it. From that I get a glimmer of your exposure to the field. Let me skip to the short answer. No.

Here's one more workaround.

Install VNCSERVER on some Windows box and then VNC over to it from your Linux box to do the MS Access when you need it.

There will be someone that will mention another solution but I've seen it work so infreqently and it takes so much time and effort that I don't think it's a good answer. They will write about WINE.

Yes my exposure to this field is not great. Thankyou for your response. I will check VNCSERVER, hopefully that will work out.

Thanks for the brief and clear answer. I appreciate it. (Even though I am disappointed at the answer). Steve.
