Opera D'Load Problem

Dec 24, 2006 4:21AM PST

Hello - Since FF 2.0.01 is my only browser, I thought I'd have a second as a backup and chose Opera. I couldn't get it to respond from their homepage; long spinning wheel then nothing, so went to CNET from Google and downloaded it from there. I had a 'successful' download, according to the window; clicked to 'open' it, which brought up NeoOffice. The bottom tool bar showed that NeoOffice was 'importing file', then total freeze...Had to wait several minutes to 'force quit' NeoOffice. This occurred several times, so I trashed the download, and returned to their homepage. Absolutely no-go; it's as if it's under 'maintenance', or other wise just not 'alive'. I also tried after disabling my FF extensions, Adblock & ImgLikeOpera...Still no-go...Any thoughts? Thanks much.

Got Opera!

Thanks Mark - Not sure what the glitch was, but it went well this last time. Wow...like it a lot; and very fast. I'm in the country with no hope of hi-speed, so on dial-up, any speed improvement is great. Certainly do miss FF's Adblock; I got so used to not seeing commercial images - Opera does have a 'pop-up' blocker, but apparently that's as far as it goes. Thanks again & have a great holiday - Eric

How did you get it in the end?

Is there any reason why you cannot re-install Firefox's Addblock now?

Anyway, well done, and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you.

Mark
