Opening the wmplayer7

Dec 10, 2006 3:51PM PST

I have a new mac book and have a problem getting wmplayer7 to open. When I try to open it in the downloads or application it says... "Safari can?t open the file ?WMPlayer7_1_EN? because no available application can open it"
How do I get an application to open this so I can watch a news clip etc.?
I got this message when I tried to watch a video.
"To watch CBS.com videos, first choose a media player. We'll remember your settings for future visits. You can always change to a different player by clicking on 'Settings'." so I downloaded the wmplayer for mac and now cannot get an application to open the wmplayer.
Any help would be appreciated. I am a new convert to mac and so far so good.

Thanks a lot

Jim

The Problem is that

the version of WMP that you downloaded is not the correct one.
WMP 9 is needed for OS X. Your version is for OS 9 and below which your Intel driven machine cannot run.

MS no longer support WMP for Mac and are offering Flip4Mac as a substitute. It is a free download from the MS site.
Alternatively, you could download WMP 9 from the MS site.

Hope this helps

WMP

I use the Flip4Mac additions for QuickTime, available at the MS site, to watch this stuff.
It works well and the site indicates that WMP is installed.

Your link works for me. Next time it goes back to the "select player" click the WMP option and go ahead

Try the Flip4Mac download, it is also Free

Not sure which one it is working on but works. Now to get the screen that comes up a little larger. Being new to a mac after 20 yrs of window use is proving easier than I thought.

Window Size
Dec 11, 2006 8:54PM PST

The size of a video window is usually defined by resolution of the original.
If it were possible to view the video stream at a larger window size, you would find that the picture would become almost unrecognizable.
There are only so many pixels in the original window and increasing the window size does not increase the number of pixels. It just makes each one bigger.

Usually the size is the size on news sites.
