I am receiving error message that will not open shortcuts from my desktop. I had installed google chrome and was dissatisfied with it so I went back to internet explorer. After I uninstalled the google I could nonlonger open shortcuts. Help. I need the shortcuts.

Internet Explorer 8 already was released in 2009. Why download the beta now when the final product is available so long already? What version of IE did you have before you installed that beta.

And what happens if you reinstall Chrome or - even better - do a system restore back to when it still was installed? No need to use it, of course, but if this returns the working of your shortcuts you might prefer that above a system without Chrome and non-working shortcuts.
