Opening New downloads

by cwarger / March 15, 2015 3:05 AM PDT

I downloaded skyscraper simulator but can't open the game. I dragged the .dmg file into my applications folder. When I open the app, I get a window with folders. The "Run Skyscraper" folder gives me this message "The alias "Run Skyscraper" can't be opened because the original item can't be found." What do I do next?

.dmg files do not go into the Applications folder

Put it back in the downloads folder and double click it there.
Then put the contents of the dmg file into the applications folder if necessary

Still won't open

OK, I finally got back to this project. I hate how works gets in the way of life. Anyway, I took it out of the applications folder, put it in the downloads folder and I still get the same message. When I double click on the Skyscraper 2.0 Alpha 9 folder, it opens to the contents. I click on the Run Skyscraper folder (or any other) and get the Alias message referred to above.

Any other suggestions?

I just downloaded Skyscraper 2 Alpha 9

I double clicked the .dmg file that was in my downloads folder
This created another folder with 7 objects in it.
One folder and six alias's
Double clicking Run Skyscraper launched the app with no problem.

Best practice. Create a folder on the desktop called Skyscraper. Drag ALL the contents of the window that opened when you clicked the .dmg file, into it.
Run from there.

On the desktop you will find a disk icon called Skyscraper 2.0 Alpha9. Drag that icon to the trash and eject it.

Thank you for all the suggestions. The support person from the actual website gave me a link to another version and it downloaded without a glitch.

Again, thanks for you help. I'm sure I'll be back as I am very green with all this tech stuff.
