Much like an used car with missing parts, you get to buy or find the replacement parts. If a CD is missing, you look to the machine's maker or Ebay. If some KEY is missing then you ask the person/place/maker for the replacement key. Such parts and information may not be free but neither is that locksmith's fees when you lose the car keys.
For now, I can suggest you look at OPEN OFFICE from http://www.openoffice.org if you need something to open Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents. The price is free.

Please help, I am totally hopeless with pc's, but need someone to help me in simple, layman's terms. Since we restored our computer last week, whenever I get an email with an attachment, the attachment downloads ok, but when prompted to open it, a new window comes up from microsoft, asking for my user name, password, organization, and most importantly, a 25 digit number, which says I can find on the back of my cd jewel case which I had when I purchased the computer 4 years ago. Firstly, I've never been asked this before, and have always been able to open attachments with no problems, and secondly, our start up cdrom which came with the pc wasn't even in a case........can anyone help? many thanks
