How about tufenuf links? Those should work. If they don't tell your issue (what you did initially, how you tried to repair it, what happened with each try) in more detail.

Open With
May 30, 2010 2:10AM PDT

It all started after i downloaded a weather forcast prog.Left clicking on the desktop icon, nothing happened, so i right clicked the icon and selected 'open file location', then i clicked 'OPEN' then 'Choose Default Progs' which showed recommended progs.(WINDOWS MEDIA CENTRE )I realised i had made a mistake, so i came out of prog.
But to my horror most of my desktop icons had changed to WINDOWS MEDIA CENTRE icons. So if i clicked on a desktop prog or game icon it would load up as window media centre.I tried going through start, same result, i even tried to load system restore, but nothing. my computor skills are average, HELP.

Guys just Restart Your Computer In "SAFE MODE" by pressing F8 when it is starting/ Restarting....
Now after its ON.., Go to control Panel---> Programs --> Turn Windows Features ON or OFF --> Go to Media Features, Expand it and UN-CHECK / DE-SELECT The WindowsMediaCenter..
Its Over Guys Finished....
