Xero doesn't seem to be free.

Do you mean that - being a Xero customer - you have to pay an extra fee to access it from the eCommerce-application? To Xero? Or to the author of that open source application?

My company uses Xero and we are looking to start an eCommerce website. One of the key requirements of the eCommerce website is for it to be compatible with Xero, in other words, there should be some sort of plugin that when a transaction happens, it sends data automatically to Xero which it can then use. I don't know the technical stuff with Xero because that's not my department, all I know is that the eCommerce website should be able to communicate with Xero. Most open source eCommerce apps do not have said plugin(might not be a plugin, I'm unsure what form it comes in) for Xero, and I'm looking for one that has this existing plugin without charging a monthly fee for it.

Given that.

This would be exactly the question you would put to Xero. Sounds like the right question for them.
