Onyahoo.com the news stories show from a different location

Aug 18, 2010 9:06AM PDT

Would anyone know why on yahoo.com the news stories show from a different location than where I am?
I made yahoo.com my home page. I live in Texas and my internet service provider is here in Texas (ATT)
When I open my browser, the home page is yahoo.com. But sometimes the news stories on the home page show to be from NY or California.
I mean not the top 5 or so stories, but the ones below that where they are "specialized" to one's location ( referencing local papers such as NY Post)
why would that be?
Is my browser hijacked? ( I dn't think so because I get no website redirects)
Could it be that sometimes the yahoo server sends me to the wrong location?

...and that's not always where you are.. Plus, they may be getting advertising revenue from a certain site, therefore they give you one that pays them better.. Yes, overall, the main stories are tailored to your area but after that, they choose based on a lot of different things, including your other preferences, PLUS their preferences.

Hope this helps.

I am also from Texas and use Windstream as my ISP

When I first open Yahoo.com I receive new from the Arkansas area

If I login to Yahoo then I receive news from the Houston area

Have you tried login in to Yahoo and seeing if your news stories change to your local
