Question

Only route local access through PPTP but not internet

Oct 17, 2018 10:53PM PDT

Hey community,
at work we have two wifi routers with built-in modems providing two different internet connections (Don't ask why, we're in Africa). What we need now is a possibility to access a network printer in network A from a computer in network B. The configuration interface of router A offers a built-in vpn server to which I can connect via PPTP using Windows 7 built-in vpn tool. My problem is now, that any traffic from computer B is sent through the vpn and therefore consumes bandwith on both internet connections. What I would like to do is only having local connections sent through the vpn while all internet access not being sent through the vpn. When searching the internet, I found the idea to disable the "Use default gateway on remote network" option in the Advanced TCP/IP Settings of the vpn connection but doing so I can't access network A anymore at all. Is there any possibility to realise that with windows built-in tools or is there any freeware to do that?
