ONLY One Buzz per week

Sep 2, 2011 11:36AM PDT

REALLY! How can you do this? This was the podcast that gets me through my long nights at work. I am on 3rd shift and BOL was the one thing I looked forward to at work. Now I will have to talk to some of my fellow postal workers/ postal zombies on the nite shift.

I guess i will try to find my tech news elseware. Leo?
ps 404 is not a replacment for the Buzz crew.

ONLY One Buzz per week

If they made a 2 hour show, I could cut it up into 6 episodes... and just dole it out to myself like a weening junkie who can't find enough methadone.

Darn!

How can CBS do this? Only one a week? Not cool. I'll bet BOL gets better ratings than many CBS properties!

week old news
Sep 15, 2011 7:44AM PDT

my main cause for concern in moving to a weekly news show is that the news is old.
this is the reason i stopped listening to twit in favor of bol. news is timely. I'll give the new format a shot without question, because i enjoy the delivery and the personalities.

It just hard to make time for a longer podcast with what could end up being old news.

Why?
Sep 20, 2011 6:20AM PDT

What bothers me most is the almost complete lack of explanation. Just vague promises of new stuff on cnet live. So the show is being gutted to make room for... what? I don't have access to streaming video at work. I cherished this podcast, and now it's over, and nobody seems to want to say why. Is Molly sick of doing the show? Is CBS trying to move cnet away from audio podcasts? Did the ratings erode? Brian Cooley once called BOL cnet's "flagship" show. We need to know why it's being all but cancelled.

Not that this post will make a difference. This forum hasn't been mentioned on air in years. I doubt anyone on the show reads it.

CNET,

Please answer the question.

Thanks.

Sucks
Sep 20, 2011 10:11AM PDT

I know, right!??! This blows. Cnet is forcing me to look elsewhere for a daily news show. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

still sucks

That email with the line by line comparison to the Netflix debacle was epic. I'm glad that person sent it in. I had similiar thoughts in my head, but figured that since BOL is free, the comparison wouldn't really be fair.

It's good that Molly and Brian are reading this negative feedback on air, but their "Yep..... anyway" responses to it leave me frustrated.

who says it's not enough?

There are so many casts, in a few weeks time you'll be listening to things that are probably more practical and useful than daily tech news. Not all of it is as fun or funny as BOL, but the variety makes up for it. Posted this in the show notes but to restart the list:
Techzilla (remember Veronica?), NPR Tech, NPR Car Talk, The Dennis Miller Show, NPR Most Emailed Stories. Stuff You Should Know, How Stuff Works, Comedy Central, The Economist, NPR Science Friday, This American Life, Freekonomics Radio, and so on.
There's more BBC and NPR stuff out there than anyone has time to listen to on a given day, not to mention all the other stuff out there in your areas of specialty like business, music, arts, language, oh yeah and news.

BOL is starting to fade from my memory

1 day a week is not enough. Just sayin.
