only 1 hdmi port but 2 monitors

Feb 20, 2018 11:44AM PST

Hello, i recently bought a alienware alpha asm100 a days ago for a media device. I have 2 monitors that only have hdmi in and the alpha only has 1 hdmi out. is there any way to get both working like light gaming on one and streaming media on the other ( cheapest way). thanks

By both working you could use a HDMI SPLITTER but that would only show the same image on both.

If you want another or second display, you have to have another video output.

In fact, many have "Alienware Graphics Amplifier Port - NVIDIA Graphics Only" so back to Dell to get that product.

the alpha r1 doesn't have the graphics amplifier port unfortunately, so even with a usb to hdmi it wouldnt work?

Please tell exact models when you ask these questions.

All I had was "alienware alpha asm100" and all the models on the first google'd Dell page had that port.

As to USB, EVEN USB 3.x Video cards are not good enough for 3D gaming. Card games, FarmVille? Sure. No problem.

But does it have USB 3.x or just 2.0?

That said, there is Nvidia's GEFORCE NOW that is in beta but my bet is this won't help here.

Wrong machine for dual displays?

the alienware alpha R2 has the external gpu port, the R1 doesnt sorry bout not clarifying i guess
the R1 has 2 usb 3.0 and 2 usb 2.0

Didn't see that in top post.

But USB 3.x is about all it can muster so try some USB 3.x video cards. Way too many on Amazon but gaming must be lightweight like cards or farmville.
