Some scanners count a compressed file, such as a CAB or Zip as ONE file..Others scanners count ALL of the files that are inside the compressed file...It changes the number of files scanned a lot but the files are still being scanned correctly. Still, I think it's important to use a good antivirus installed on your computer PLUS use the online scanners as a "second opinion" once in a while.
In addition, it's important to be sure that the scanner is checking inside compressed files. Your onboard antivirus, NAV, should be set to scan "all files" and "compressed files", if there is such a setting. Many of the new viruses actually enter your e-mail as a password protected zip file.
Hope this helps.

i did some online scans on panda and trend micro(i think thats the name). panda scanned over 100,000 files and trend micro only scanned a lil bit over 24,000. so i checked my nva(not online) and it said i had 55,000. does this mean panda is the best antivirus out of all of them??
