Audio, internet adapters, maybe motherboard/chipset drivers? All could potentially cause such an issue. Also lack of RAM in a notebook could be part of the problem.

Another possibility... Some browsers are better at this than others. If you're using a browser to connect to the station, try a different one.

Here, I start sorting it out by doing all sorts of things. Clean out the cookies and temp files, run "Chkdsk /f /r /x" at an elevated command line, then run defrag, and uninstall unneeded programs running in the background. Notebooks just don't have a lot of resources and the more you can free up, the better it will be.
