It's entirely possible that you will prefer one speakers over the other. My gut feeling is the Energy separates might sound 'brighter', but that sort of evaluation is nearly always a personal observation
. Onkyo does provide a very good value for such starter systems. I see both as good choices though.

Hello Gurus,
A newbie here, with absolutely no knowledge of the finer points in home theater systems.
I am planning on buying my first surround sound system. Need your valuable insight in these two configs. They both meet my HDMI input needs and I don't really care abut the 7.1 vs 5.1 difference. If you have any better suggestions then my configuration, I'd love to hear it, with the reasoning behind that.
