One "uncomfortable" transaction with fake adult.

by olamoree / April 5, 2005 6:33 AM PDT

I bid and won a CD Burner, paid and received the item, BUT it was the right box, wrong burner. eBay was VERY UNCOOPERATIVE in informing me of WHO was behind the sale as all I had was the email and had even written and received specifications for the drive. Finally located the culprit, called the home number and Dad answered and said John was his 12 y.o. son, so I explained.... Dad told me that his kid had stolen the old burner in the new ones box and faked his ID on eBay and sold me the old burner in a new box. He was mortified, refunded my costs and made me a present of the old burner. As for John, I hope he couldn't sit down for a week! eBays reaction? They kept a known minor thief, fraud subscribed for 6 more months. You gotta see where eBay is: Their money comes from the Seller, therefore the Seller is GOD and can do no wrong. And even tho the Buyer actually gives the money to the Seller to give to eBay, that just does not occur to eBay and their politics..... but it's fun and cheap if you watch out.
