General discussion

One of those for the record thingymabops

Nov 26, 2003 9:01AM PST

I know I don't have to do this and I may be the only one to have done this, make the change and announce same after initial signup since the change over, but I'm doing it anyway.

I've changed my user name to T Lee.

My give name is Timothy Lee Alden, and I've gone by Tim for so many years I hesitate to mention the fact that come the day after Thanksgiving, I'll have proven to myself that 49 years is not quite long enough for me to have learned it all. And before some wise cracker speaks up and tries to inform me that 49 more will STILL not be enough, I'll save them the time by agreeing with them that I'm one who believes that even Methuselah at 969 years probably did not have all it took down pat to fill in for god should the big guy ever have needed a vacation from all the idiocy we all know permeates what we like to think of as an enlightened species of apes in the adolescence phase.

In case you don't already know or have been out of the loop too long, these are the same fingers typing away which belong to the person you know as Tim Alden.

Mary Kay,

Changing my user name from Tim Alden to T Lee is hardly reinventing myself. You may notice that many of the members came to the new forum with either a totally different user name or possibly left off their last name.

However, I do like thinking up nicks and playing with words. Must have come form my dad who was so verbostic. Is that a word? LOL Not going to look it up.

Tim

BTW, thanks for the compliment, but since I'm claiming that I'm not doing so this time, I guess I don't deserve the kudos. Happy

TLee meant this totally complimentary. Hope you didn't take offense (NY)

the only problem I can foresee is that newcomers won't know if you're male or female.

Rosalie,

Hopefully they will be as courteous no matter which they think I am and if it bothers them that much, they can always ask. If I'm not around to answer, there is bound to be someone with plenty of time on their hands just itching to set the record straight. Happy

Hello Mstr TLee
Nov 26, 2003 4:54PM PST

Right neighborly for you using the T. Lots of Cajuns put a T in front of their names, like T-Joe's Bar, T-Roy's Cafe, T-Bud's Liquor, etc.
T-Cajuns have been moving out of S. Louisiana since the big war and when they put concret over the shell roads making it better to travel. So Cajuns who happen to get to Oregon would like to meet anyone with a T in front of their name. I wouldn't worry about TLee being male or female, it's the T that counts.

Well, got to go down the bayou now to visit fo couple of days and eat that TBird.

Good name Mstr TLee, let the good times roll Sha

Oh, I don't know, if my name were T Dah, I have an idea that I'd be more well known than simply being T Lee. LOL

why use your middle name rather than surname?

Ian, HTH...
Nov 26, 2003 10:47AM PST

Ian,

I wouldn't have to use either. Would you be happier if I just did the "J" (J Vega) and went by "T"? LOL

Phonetically, I LIKE the way T Lee sounds.

Besides, not that I empathize with or agree with General Robert E. Lee, name of which I was told my middle name was taken even though I'm a "Yankee", I like my middle name because I've been told that my Mom gave it to me.

Timothy was my dad's EXTREME "right wing" idea of biblical comportment in an otherwise wicked world. Notice it evidently didn't "take".

Want more, or fear with me that a certain person we all know about will have yet another chapter in a book you will have to PAY to read unless you wait for the library copy?

HTH?

Want more, or fear with me that a certain person we all know about will have yet another chapter in a book you will have to PAY to read unless you wait for the library copy?. Well, I've got no idea what you are talking about, but it sounds intriguing.

Anyway, enjoy your new cognomen.

Curious regarding "Timothy"
Nov 28, 2003 2:08AM PST

Granted the name is associated with the bible, at least the King James Version and it's relatives, the bit -

"Timothy was my dad's EXTREME "right wing" idea of biblical comportment in an otherwise wicked world."

I find a bit puzzling, as far as extreme right wing concept. Lots of people name kids after Bibical figures without being particularly extreme anything, religious or political.

I'm not sure why it would be viewed that way.

Just struck me a bit off, no intention to pry offensively.

Roger,

Thank you for picking up on this. Actually, you receive the blue ribbon for being the first to notice a "hint for discussion". Happy

I think I was not as explicit as I could have been.

What I probably should have said was his choice of (name) and location wherefrom was not necessarily "extreme right wing"; however, where he stood where it came to the Word of God, was. And, it went WELL beyond the Good Book too, to include MANY more words and thoughts (books, many of them) than are contained in God's "Love letter to His children".

I would expect that "extreme right wing" could be debated till the "end of days", and probably will be. We each have our own opinions and I rather doubt Websters is much help.

If you called me, Late for Dinner, I'd be well pleased that I was called for one of the most-loved meals of many families. Happy
