one horizontal gay line in middle of laptop screen

A line has appeared and doesn't move - thin gray line - in the middle of my laptop screen.
I have checked with anti-virus and spyware tools. I have connected it to another monitor and it doesn't appear.
Any ideas?

That's going to be a permanent feature of your screen from now on. It might even be joined by additional lines in the future.

LCD screens are made up of a number of horizontal strips that an electrical current runs through to make up the display. One of those strips has failed on your system.

If it's under warranty, get it fixed. Otherwise, learn to live with it or start thinking about a new laptop.
