TP-Link for example had an issue and mind you that it was specific to a make/model device. Your failing device could have updated the Android and then we have all the other Android nuttiness to deal with. But Samsung tends to program by the book. http://www.tp-link.us/article/?faqid=510 so your extenders/WAPs and such could run afoul of such an issue.
Getting makers to fix it, well, that's rare.

Hi,
My home network has been working perfectly for 2 years, but suddenly I have a very specific & unusual problem and cannot find a fix anywhere.
I will start by describing my home network setup:-
EE Brightbox Router with following ethernet connected:-
=> Fibre modem
=> Buffalo NAS LinkStation
=> Cisco Linksys PLWK400 Powerline adapter/WiFi extender.
Router SSID is "DOWNSTAIRS" with following WiFi connections:-
=> Playstation 4
=> Samsung SMART TV
=> Nexus 7 Tablet
=> Sony Ericcson SMART phone
=> Netbook, Windows 7 SP1
=> Samsung Galaxy S5 mobile phone
=> Ipod Mini
Powerline/WiFi extender SSID is "UPSTAIRS" with following WiFi connections:-
=> Desktop PC, Windows XP SP3
=> HP Wirless Printer
=> Samsung Galaxy S5 mobile phone
Now the problem:-
Every single device, despite when or where connected, could always see the NAS on the network, and access the music and video I have stored on it, from anywhere in the house.
The desktop PC in particularly, changes automatically from UPSTAIRS to DOWNSTAIRS connection depending on strength of WiFi signal.
And yet it can still access the NAS on both SSID connections.
However, the following is the only problem that developed about 2 weeks ago, and it blows my mind trying to find a solution:-
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mobile Phone:-
=> When connected to "UPSTAIRS" it can see and access the NAS and it's config page.
=> When connected to "DOWNSTAIRS" it cannot see the NAS and cannot access it's config page at all.
Every other device connected to both "UPSTAIRS" and "DOWNSTAIRS" can still see the NAS.
Attempts to fix:-
=> There is no firewall or anti virus or anything like that installed on the phone
=> The phone is not restricted at all via the router or NAS settings.
Why why why??? Can this phone not see the NAS when connected to "DOWNSTAIRS" SSID??????
Thank you soooo much for any help, everyone understands how annoying these problems can be.
Ian.
