Is closing. For example I picked up a nice refurb HP Probook for just over 200USD. Service repair on what it was replacing was going to be close to that as the old machine needed a keyboard and a HDD.
I know the service industry all too well as I owned a repair/sales shop long ago. It was sold and I went back to full time product design. Still I love to fix a PC or thing but it's always a choice of repair or replace.
Only those very new to the market think repair is always cheaper.
-> What I'm getting at. The headwinds are not in your favor here and it's getting worse as the cheaps keep getting cheaper. That and your warranty position could do you in.
I think you need to reconsider and pivot now.
I have an idea that is not necessarily new but i need to do it differently. I guess most of you knows the geek squad, nerds and the like. From my basic research, these companies started small and used a franchise model to scale up but this requires money and franchise knowledge.
I have been in the Computer repair business for some time but only servicing an area of about 50km radius of my business premises. Due to costs, i cannot go beyond that as most of clients are not happy charged KM driven and they opt to use the local nearby companies.
I then tried to engage those local businesses to work together but most of the time their response wasn't appealing and annoyed most clients.
My new idea i am thinking:
I would like to start advertising for Technicians in all those areas that i am targeting, choose an optimal technician and assign him to service that area. Create a local webpage and optimise and rank it on google first page for (Computer repair near me) with a general contact number and or email account that will be only responded to at my current business premises. Establish some kind of a call center to respond to inquiries and allocate the technician to the specified area.
My challenge:
I need a way of getting these technicians work independently, not being directly employed by myself but at the same time being so royal and responsive to the clients needs. Some areas might not be so busy making the technician insecure and not getting work hence no income.
If there is anyone out there who have the same idea or who have executed a similar idea to please help me with any guidelines. Thanks in advance.
