Olympus D-595 "No Nand Data"

Apr 20, 2008 12:24AM PDT

Anyone have a problem losing all display text with a D-595 Zoom?
When turned on the message "No Nand Data" appears, then no text. The windows are present in the display for settings and options, but no text. It'll take and record photos on the memory card. It won't function w/o the memory card. Any ideas?

First thing to do is install fresh batteries.
Buy some alkaline AA batteries and see if that helps.

There is little you can do beyond that.

It may be time to shop for a new camera.

No Nand Data
Oct 21, 2010 9:09AM PDT

Hi, Have you had any luck with your problem as I have a Olympus FE120 which has developed the same fault, Trust my luck I bought it for the wife and borrowed it because the close up pic's were better than my fujifilm one, Of course I'm being asked what I've done to it,
I first had problems with the memory card, I switched the camera off cleaned the card reinserted it and it came back with this no nand date, I can't get the pic's off the card because the card has been securily locked well that's what it's telling me, There must be a software site for this sort of problem, Regards, Joe.

No Nand Data olympus cameras
May 2, 2012 11:01AM PDT

Hi, I have just come across your 2008 posting, I have been looking everywhere for info on no nand data messages on my wifes olympus fe120 camera, Sorry to say that it appears to be quite common amongst olympus cameras, I have even contacted their technical and services department, they didn't even have the courtesy to reply to my emails, Needless to say I will not buy anymore of their photographic equipment and I advise other people or potential customers to do the same, I wouldn't mind so much if the fe120 was old but it isn't I had it 12 months hardly used it then let my wife have it, needless to say that at the time it went wrong I was using it so my wifes looked at me sideways as if I have broken it, I had used it the night before it developed a hissy fit with no prob's, the next day that I came to use it I got this no nand date message, nothing of any description was spilled onto it, I was taking some close up pic's of some watches that I was selling, well I was going to continue photgraphing some watches that I was going to sell when I got the error message, It won't let me erase or format the card plus the card will not work in my other camera, luckily it's on a 512mb card, although it would not let me download the pic's I was able through the explore option able to get a copy of all the pic's that were on the card, it would also allow pic's to be taken but has since decided that it doesn't want to work at all now, The camera was that well looked after that it looks like it's just been bought from a shop, this is the thing that gets me really angry, and I have just been deafed out by olympus, How many more of their customers have they done this to,

I'm easily confused.

This sounds like a failed memory card. 512MB cards are dang old now. Are you upset they only last so long?

no nand data error message
May 29, 2012 10:41PM PDT

no nand data error message is the failure of the cameras software (usually run by java) to communicate and talk in it's own language to the contents ie pictures or video in either the memory card or the camers internal memory, if the memory card had failed you would not get a no nand data message it would say memory card failure or error, this would mean that the cameras internal memory could still be used, For some strange reason when the nand data software fails the camera activates the cards security resulting in the owner not being able to use the cards 1st generation images or videos, This card is only as old as the camera just over 12 months and yes I am upset that I can't use it due to the error message, it cost enough at the time, I have 512mb cards all over the place much older than the olympus one and they function as good as new,
What we need to remember about using larger gb cards and hard drives is the more you store should the card/hard drive go ***'s up the more of your personal stuff goes with it,

Camera Reset
May 30, 2012 12:05AM PDT

Have you done a camera reset yet?

You may have inadvertently set something that is causing the problem.
All digital cameras have a camera reset that will reset the camera back to factory settings.

The camera reset will be in a menu.
Check the User Manual and look for something that says it will reset/restore the camera to factory settings.
