Olumpus C-60 Zoom - How can I change the Resolution?

Apr 24, 2005 9:01PM PDT

I was presented an Olympus C-60 Zoom by my son last month. I have understood majority of its functions by studying the User Manual but still can?t pick up some of them. For example : My 32MB Chip exhausted after taking 0nly 25 snaps which I think is due to high resolution (Pre-set to 2816x2112). I remember I was told that I can take up to 56 snaps with this chip. Probably this can be achieved by lowering the resolution size. I don?t know how to do it and could not find it in the manual.

As the local distributor is quite far away from here, can someone please give me step by step guidance in this respect?

Thanks and regards,

ASGHAR

Olympus has its own way of showing the resolution settings. It is OK once you get used to it.

Turn the Camera On.
(On the back you will see an OK button surrounded by 4 arrows.)
Press the OK button to bring up the menu.
Press the left arrow button
That should bring up a choice of:
TIFF, SHQ, HQ, SQ1, SQ2
Use the up/down arrow buttons to move the cursor to SQ1
Then press the right arrow button
That should bring up a choice of settings.
Use the up/down buttons to select a setting.
I suggest you select 2048x1536 (which is 3 megapixels)
Then press the OK button.

................

You should think about getting a memory card with a greater capacity.

Olympus C-60 Zoom - How can I change the Resolution?

Hi Snapshot,

Thanks for posting a reply. It was quite helpful. But, while following your instructions, I have observed the following:

1. After pressing the OK button and then left arrow button, in the list of settings appearing thus, there is no ?TIFF? button but the other four are there with different resolution settings in front of them as under:

SHQ 2816x2112
HQ 2816x2112
SQ1 1600x1200
SQ2 640x460

There was no setting showing 2048x1536 (3 Mega pixels) as mentioned by you above.

2. I selected SQ1 with the resolution 1600x1200 and on pressing the Obutton, this resolution was set. I got a snap which was in this setting all right, and closed the camera. On turning on the camera after a while, it was again showing, like always, the resolution of 2816x2112.

My Question:

Do I have to re set it before taking every snap or is there a method to make a permanent setting for a few snaps.

I hope I am not bothering you!!

Regards,

asghar

Here are my instructions:

3. Press the left arrow button
4. That should bring up a choice of:

6. Then press the right arrow button

8. Then press the OK button.
.....

I think you missed step 6.

.....

Regarding TIFF.
During step 5. It is possible that there is not enough room on the screen to see TIFF. Use the up/down buttons to move the cursor beyond the top and bottom items on the screen. You should find TIFF hiding there.

.....

Regarding Resetting of settings.

1. Press the OK button
2. Press the right button
3. Use the Up/Down buttons to move the cursor to "Setup".
4. press the right button
5. You should see something called "All Reset" and it is probably set to "ON"
6. Move the cursor to All Reset.
7. Press the right button.
8. Move the cursor to Off
9. Press OK.

Re: How to change Resolution and Keep settings.

Hi.

The camera is resetting to the default settings everytime you shut the camera off.

Access the menu (using the okay\menu button on the back of camera). Go into the "setup tab". Look for the "All Reset" option and turn that to "Off". Change your resolution and next time you power off, your new settings will still be there. This is documented on page 29 of the reference manual (comes on the CD only).

I would also recommend getting a larger card(s)

Happy Shooting
