All LEDs had an issue with aging but it wasn't a big problem as they were used for back lighting or indicators. When OLED came about suddenly folk noticed the aging. It's not as if the displays failed but they can do what you see in reviews.
HOWEVER, you play a part in how long the screen lasts. Max out the brightness and just like in Plasma TVs you will see the issues sooner than later.
Are OLEDs perfect? Nope. Is there anything better? Not yet for mass production. For me I'd just dim the screen a little and enjoy the best screens ever.
My old iPhone 5 is dying quickly, so I am searching for a new handset. Almost every new phone these days has an OLED display and I love the way they look, but I've heard many warnings and tragic tales of burn in issues for OLED. Many phones I am considering such as the OnePlus 6 and S9/S9+ have these displays, and I'm worried about their longevity. I have kept my iPhone 5 for five years and I'm planning on keeping my next phone for a long time as well, but I'm concerned that an OLED display will simply deteriorate too quickly with my heavy usage.
Am I justified in being concerned, or am I just being paranoid?
