This is one of those situations where your only recourse is to make this a warranty issue. That is, you force it to be that so they must repair or replace. If they fail to honor the warranty then you get a refund.
I can't tell if any HACK like a VPN could fix this but it's not open source so it's up to the makers to fix.
After directv updated their genie software in August 2017, I and several others have lost the directv smart app function and get a this location is not authorized error.
I have contacted LG and they are suppose to send a firmware report to their engineers and work with directv to solve this issue.
Directv has replaced the genie, tried 2 deca units, nothing prevents error from cropping up.
Any suggestions on this, my plan is to keep calling LG back and have also given directv my LG case number and told them what LG is doing.
