Question

Old vs. New Computer and what to do with Outlook Express?

Apr 21, 2017 7:33PM PDT

I run XP and have for years. Used Outlook express, created folders where I store messages sent to or from me, and have 10 years or more woth of letters, captions, and information I have received from friends, etc. My PC is still running ok, but I am worried that if/when it doesn't, I will never get all my e-mail history back, let alone, what SW I can use that would be similar. If I get a new PC, and buy WOrd, Excel, Outlook (I think they still make Outlook) will it be pretty simple to convert the Outlook Express folders and messages to Outlook? Help and thanks for listening........Frank

On XP install Thunderbird and migrate all the OE over the Thunderbird.

Now when you are ready to move, Thunderbird's email data can be moved over.

The Thunderbird software is free, well documented on the web along with questions on folders, moving to another PC so I don't expand on those areas here.
