General discussion

old quality or cheap new?

Jul 11, 2009 4:47AM PDT

I'm looking at higher quality used camcorders (over $1K) and 4 to 5 years old, but "lightly used" that are available for 3 to 5 hundred bucks. Then there are all the new ones in the 3 to 5 range. The question is, do I get enough quality in the old unit to make up for the techno advance of the past 4-5 years? I'm not a feature nut, so picture quality is prime. Are the newer models really better, or just cheaper?
thanks,
