old printer new computer

Feb 9, 2006 8:01PM PST

I just got a new Dell computer with only a USB port for the printer while my old bjc 250 has a 21 pin cable. what is the best way if there is to connect these. I tried a converter cable USB to 21 pin but cannot get it to recognize the printer.
Any help?
thanks marinus

That printer is just too old if you need an adapter to get it to work, You already exceeded the cost of a new low-end printer. I suggest you get a parallel port card rather than any adapter for best possible install as that seems to be you best resolution. You will need a pci type parallel(LPT) card. This provides the typical LPT port needed for the BJC-250.
