I've seen many of these and why I use SD CARD READERS to get my photos off such things.
Many of the older cameras did not show up as a drive even with the drivers. Some showed up in the software apps and as time passes some apps don't work on new machines.
Try GPHOTO from a Live CD called UBUNTU. NO INSTALL REQUIRED.

I recently found two old digital cameras of mine from way back when. They only had internal memory for about twenty 640x480 pictures. One is a Starcam model CP084 and the other one is a Vivitar CoolCam Model CP082. These cameras don't show up as removable disks when I plug them into usb. I lost all the old photos taken with these cameras due to harddrive failure.
I was wondering, is there a way to make these cameras show up as removable disks so I can use data recovery software on them, or maybe another way to recover deleted photos on them? I tried one digital camera recovery software but it doesn't pick up the camera, even though I installed the drivers I downloaded.
Thank you!
