Old better than New!?

by you3f / June 11, 2007 7:28 AM PDT

I'm planning to buy a projector and on top of my list I have the Sony VPL-VW100 and Sony VPL-VW50. The 100 is the first 1080p Sony projector that came out on 11/1/05 and the second the generation (VW50) came out last fall. But what puzzles me is that VW100 was rated 8.3 at the time and still has the same rating but the new VW50 gets rating of 7.5.
I can buy a VW100 for $6,000 and VW50 for $3500. Which one would you recommend?

Keep in mind that the 8.3 was given in 2005 in direct comparison to what was available at that time. The 7.5 for the newer version can't really be compared to the 8.3 for the older one bc the newer one no doubt has more features and better performance than its older brother.

The only thing that kept me from buying the Sony was short lamp life and found lamps very expensive Just remember to feed that lovely projector a good hi-def sourse blue ray , h.d. satellite system and the best speaker system you can afford keep us posted would like to know about your installation steweeee
