Old AT&T Plan?

Apr 21, 2005 2:59PM PDT

Does anyone know - will I be forced to change from my AT&T plan to a Cingular one once my present contract expires or will Cingular let me go month to month with my old AT&T plan indefinently?

As I understand you can keep your old AT&T plan until you either want to update your current plan or need to upgrade your phone. Please remember, no new AT&T handsets are being manufactured, unless you buy an unlocked phone.

This also depends on what market you are in and if you are in a contract with AT&T. If you are in a divested market area the company that puchased your At&T account will mail you a opt-in package (you should get this package before August) with their rates and the phones that they are going to offer you. If they cannot offer a package as good as the one you currently have with AT&T on both the phone and the plan then you can use Section 6 of your AT&T Wireless plan Terms and Conditions to get out of the contract without having to pay early termination charges. Hope this helps someone I was rather livid when some company that I have never heard of sent me my latest statement in the mail.
