Okay Now that we got the AOL lectures off our chests

Okay now that the AOL scolding is done..Yes I downloaded AOL many years ago...The kids love it. And no it's not a lurking monster around the corner like someone put it I never had any problems with AOLHell as put so nicely from another. We all have our tastes and guess what I don't eat fish either <gasp> so now that we can put those differences aside can someone who can answer this question tell me why the AOL program launches itself when I open up Yahoo Messenger (as if Yahoo is any better) but neither is Windows or Vista for that matter. SO now that all of these have their quirks can we deal with the question at hand here.. WHY is the aol program launching when I sign up on IE or Yahoo?

when you do what?

Or, put otherwise:
- what is "sign up on IE"?
- what is "sign up on Yahoo"
- what exactly launches.

One possible interpretation: you have set aol.com to be the start page in IE. Then use Tools>Internet options to change that.

I'll sign into yahoo then I'll open up messenger..when I click chat rooms in messenger..it launches aol..then aol is saying "enterpassword" I have to start aol in order to get into a yaho chat room..otherwise punching in the yahoo code won't get me in unless I sign into AOL. I checked Internet options and it says Yahoo is in the browser..I just changed it to MSN.COM

Check in control panel, INTERNET OPTIONS and see what your home page is listed as, if AOL backspace and change to MSN.COM and see what happens, you can still access AOL or Yahoo. Give it a shot.
