batches of laptops from a school. I think they can get out of sync for a number of reasons...much of which depends on the MS website scanning your PC to see what's needed. Of course there are two routes. One is Windows update and the other is the more comprehensive Microsoft update which will include office products. I've also found that sometimes their servers don't seem to allow multiple connections from the IP address so I can't connect several machines at once. Perhaps this isn't all at your end but part of the MS server's load balancing scheme.
Update Tuesday doesn't match.
Main machine - five updates
Server - one update
ThinkPad - two updates.
Main machine - IBM ThinkCentre running XP Pro. Updates included Defender, Malicious software, three other XP updates.
Server/Web server - Home built (high end) running XP Pro. One update for Defender.
IBM ThinkPad - high end running XP Pro. Defender and Malicious Software.
These are basically mirror machines all running the same basic software. Why are there different updates?
