Resolved Question

Oh You Have

Apr 10, 2012 5:09AM PDT

Recently when I had to buy something from a Radio Shack store I got this statement when I went to scan a QR Code they had displayed; "Oh you have one of those old G1 phones."

I was a little stunned needless to say. But then I thought after leaving is my phone really that "old?" And what constitutes something as being old as long as it is still working?

Lets face it not everyone can step up and spend $500 or more for a new phone every time a "new" model comes out. Unless your a Warren Buffett or a Bill Gates.

So now I wonder: are we in a world where we judge each other by our E-toys? Does having a brand new tablet mean you are better off than one who has a 2-3 year old laptop?

The Sprint/Verizon/ATT/other honchos giggled and smiled as the results showed folk change phones at less than 2 years.

And yes, some will judge you for owning something so old. Don't let it bother you?

Don't worry about it

Littlethunder, it sounds like the Radio Shack store employee was envious of the fact you stayed with a proven product that works for you. I have the original Droid and it has been a very good phone for me. I am just now looking at replacing it as my two years are up.

I have a Compaq Presario 3000 laptop, with a Pentium IV chip. It is still a functional laptop that I use at work for presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and Word documents. How does it make economic sense to replace those items that continue to work and do their respective tasks well??
