General discussion

Oh, come on....

So I bought a webcam, its a trust wb -1400t. Now. They don't have any Mac drivers, and a google search didn't turn much up. The Mac doesn't seem to use it, but I think it knows it's there.

I think it's outrageous that in this day and age so many companies still think that Windows is all that exists... whatta do?!

Easy to fix

Return it as quickly as you can. However with all the Windows surplus crap gear some find these in the garbage bin. If so, put it back.

I might do that... but I've got one more question.

The headset I got with it works fine, because I just tested it on my laptop. I plug it into the line in port on my Mac, and nothing. Is there a setting I need to set or is the port buggered?

I might take up your idea on returning the cam or I might just use the Windows VM for that... I have Windows running most of the time anyway.

I think you should return it

If it's only compatible with Windows, then what's the point? Sure you're already running a virtual machine within OS X, but that still limits you to using it within the VM, leaving OS X useless for it. If you planned on video-conferencing with apps like iChat or use apps that require a cam, there will be a problem.
I wouldn't try to run it just on the VM. Better to use something for everything in the event that you would rather use OS X.

I suggest looking for one that is certified for both operating systems. Of course, you could look for an old FireWire iSight camera Wink. I did a quick search and it turned up very few cameras, mostly Logitech and Microsoft models. It may require some research to pinpoint which will work with the Mini. Hope you find one.
