The HPZT3000/Compaq X1000 15.4" notebook I have has dropped off the hpshopping.com ledger at the launch of Sonoma (upgrade to the Centrino standard).
So, like Ryan has discovered the new Dell model with the Sonoma standard which may in fact replace the 8600 the HP/Compaq models have disappeared as well probably pending a new model to replace it.
The HPZT3000/Compaq X1000 has been out through the first 2 Centrino specs starting around July of 2003.
It will be interesting to see what HP/Compaq has for this segment.
The HPDV1000 with integrated video only came out in September of 2004 so it is still available and will likely just be upgraded with the new Sonoma chipset and specifications.
Look for a press release and details from Intel specifically about the new Centrino Sonoma upgrade improvements.
Dell already has a model out today that jumps the gun and all the other manufacturers should quickly follow so don't buy a Pentium M Centrino with old technology unless it is a great discounted price, suits your needs or you have to buy something right away.
There should be a lot of discounts to clear out the Pentium M notebooks with the old standard and Costco has the HP DV1000 model series at 150 off (instant discount) for $1299-150 = 1149 (with DVD burner) from 1/31-2/6/05 (retail Passport coupon sale not online custom via hpshopping through Costco.com)
