Office 2k SR-1 core update problem

Aug 17, 2005 7:48AM PDT

I have an older computer that came with windows 98 and office 2000 installed. It DIDN'T come with cds. When I try to install the office sr1 core update, I am prompted to insert the office 2k disk, which I don't have. There is a 'browse' button. Could the info needed be on the hard drive? If so, where? When I cancel the installation, I get: error 1706 no valid source found, windows installer cannot continue, and the location of a log file. The log file doesn't seem to give much info. Anybody have a workaround?
Thanks...

No CD? 2 options.

1. If you own a valid license, the cheap fix is to call Microsoft to ask for the CD.

2. If you never purchased Office, then you need to buy it.

Don't want to buy it? Use http://www.openoffice.org

I believe I do have a valid license. I will call MS. If my license isn't valid, I'll point them in the direction of the business that sold me the computer. I have used openoffice a bit and think it's a very good solution. EasyOffice is also an alternative.
Thanks again!
