if i install the office 2008 for mac obtained from torrent, will it affect or invalidate my recently purchased mac's warranty?

Pirated software is a taboo subject. Please ask Microsoft and Apple directly for what they think about it.

Don't do it.

There are alternatives to MS Office.

Open Office, Neo Office, iWork, to name a few. The first two are free and are easily downloaded and installed. Try them out and if you don't like them, come back and we'll talk
