Some problems here!
Jul 12, 2007 6:25AM PDT

No problem installing Office 2003 but there is a problem installing Windows Office 2003 Updates beginning with with May 2007 updates.

Updates download but will not install... always is a failure. These remain in the tray and on each boot reminds that updates are ready to install. Same old story and the attempt fails.

I have given up on this and leaving Office without the updates.

My experience with Office 2003 and Vista.

Glenn. A little more info.

The KBxxxxxx numbers would be nice to know. Sometimes we find the update does not apply which points to errors on MS's end of the stick. Your end might be OK or there is that other way to install an update, but without that all important number I can't tell.

Bob, both of these install failures have been going on since receiving the May batch of Microsoft Updates. As previously indicated, I have given up. I suppose the only way to get rid of the install nagging in the lower right tray is to uninstall Office 2003.

My operating system is Vista Home Premium (or whatever the name).

Hope this helps... maybe others will benefit.

Link about the first.

I decline to look up the second since you didn't answer my question about which KB numbers. Your screen copy makes me work too hard. Next time, you work a little harder.

This patch is not from May but July 10, 2007. (see link)

If you follow the links to the download center and look for KB936507 you land at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9d93c0ce-5124-4234-ba84-3c27005e010f&DisplayLang=en

However this install is done manually but it is your choice to do so. Many of today's owners are on autopilot and don't want to tackle a manual update. Again, your choice.

Sorry if this sounds harsh or mean but I wish you the very best in resolving this item. Remember that this is all volunteer so help me help you by doing small things like typing the answer rather than having me go get a graphic, decode what I'm looking at and then finding the answer. Since I had to work harder I declined to research the second item.

Harsh... No, but snide and rude yes!

I didn't ask you to do anything in the first place. You turn more people off than you help. I don't need your help and certainly do not wish to put you to any trouble. That image gave more details but you didn't care... so you made your point with the put down.

Good day!

It's all free advice here.

As such you can help others help you to the solutions. This is all I ask when working with you on a problem.

I am not in any way unfeeling for your plight and hope you take my advice so you can get the best help no matter which board or person responds.

I'm here to work this issue with you if you decide you want to try to fix it. Again, all I ask is you don't make me work at this.

Bob, I'm finished... only posted my experience...

to the original poster. Previously visited the link you cite including the manual update but manual would not install either. Bob, I do not wish to debate this further but you should know that I do not appreciate being talked down too. These board are all free to everybody and we just need to be civil and not so picky in attempting to tear the poster to apart rather than solve their issues... I see this so often! I am aware that moderators are all volunteers and as such should find another vocation if its too much to handle with common courtesy and decency.

Sorry if I sound harsh.

I reread my post and

Feel I was not talking down or slighting you in the least. The only thing I wanted to be clear about is that it can be easier to just supply the small details so I don't have to make many steps when one step (give me the KBxxxxxx numbers) would do.

I read you downloaded the manual patch and it didn't install. Again there can be clues to why it didn't install. I usually find why in the EVENT VIEWER. Again this is slightly advanced stuff for some but not all. I start off at the higher levels since this is not the newbie forum and if some take offense so be it. Those that want to fix it will persevere and work with the members to the solution.

I'm unsure why asking you to make it easy for me is so unacceptable.
