It's somewhere in the registry, like all MRU (Most Recently used lists). But there's no need at all to go into regedit to do it.
In Word Tools>Options>General (in Word XP) has the option to set the length of the list from 0 up to 9 entries. If you set it to zero, then again to 4 or 9 (I prefer 9 to the default 4) it's cleared.
It's easy to record a macro to do so.
Also note that older versions of Spybot S&D noted MRU's as a potential danger, and offered to clear them. And, of course, you might be able to find a registry cleaner doing it.
Hope this helps.

Sure this has been answered before, but I can't seem to put the "right" question into search for right answer. 2 Part:
1)Drop down list of recent files created or viewed: How to actually clear (delete) list?
2) As above, where is option to (hide) compress list?
You can tell I'm no computer secretary right? Thanks for reply In Advance. ![]()
