OE6 Insert options greyed out

Today I opened Outlook Express 6 and was going to send a e-mail with a picture inserted. I inserted the picture and realized it was way to big. So I closed OE and opened my photo software and resized the pic. Reopen OE and clicked create mail, under the insert tab, everything is now greyed out. It was working just minutes prior. I rebooted computer hoping it would fix the situation. But no. I opened my two other accounts on OE and they are also greyed out. I have never had this happen before. Went to microsoft support and couldn't find anything. (I'm horrible at phrasing the problem correctly and never have much success on Microsoft support)I also turned off my antivirus, didn't help.

If I changed that to...

Reopen OE and clicked create mail, then click in the email BODY, under the insert tab, everything now works that should work."

I must be crazy. I have been using OE for years and I really don't remember doing that but I must have. Thank you anyway. Sorry
