OE 'problems'- need input

May 25, 2006 4:49AM PDT

TRYING to 'finalize'setting up new Dell E510 w/XP Home. Can't figure out how to get OE to 'download' the emails WITHOUT showing the message. And how do I get it to open to a FULL screen?
Also, when I close it, it wants to compact folders. How do I get rid of this closeout 'popup'?
ALSO, I downloaded ALL my old email folders from my old PC as .dbx files, BUT I can't get them reinstalled.
Some of this may be "simple', but I've been trying 'everything' I can 'think' of for 2 weeks and I'm not a PC novice.
Can anyone help or tell me where to look?
I even tried OE Help.... And other places.
Thanks.

Yep, in order. . .

Unless you're really hosed up:

1.) Preview pane off - In OE, click View, uncheck Preview pane.

2.) Full screen - you have to drag this one but it remembers the setting. Either drag the window to upper left and drag lower right to where you want it or click the maximize button.

3.) Compact is an auto setting. Just click yes as it maximizes HD space.

4.) In the folder where the messages are stored, delete the folders.dbx file. Open OE and the new folders will be shown as OE creates a new folders.dbx every time OE is opened.

BUT, there's NO preview pane in the VIEW.
Just a current view with a bunch of 'stuff' and I've tried most all of them. Wierd!
I'll try the other stuff you suggested.
Thanks............

WAIT!! before you delete your DBX...

open OE, go to tools, options, maintenance, click the Store folder... Make a note where it is located...

usually it will look like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Identities\{RANDOM NUMBERS}

now, copy your old DBX files to that folder ...

close OE, then re open...
