OE Comes up and Hangs - will not finish opening

Hello Happy

I have a problem opening opens and page is blank except for headings up top...I have reloaded it twice...first time that worked for a while and could access everything on it. Thought it was K, but is doing the same again. Second reload did not work...

I have Win98SE and use Outlook Express/IE6 programs. I went into files and found this when I clicked on OEMIG50.exe:

OEMIG50.exe file is linked to missing export ADVAP132.DLL: RegOveridePredefKey

C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\oemig50.exe A device attached to the system is not functioning.

Help...Can you please tell me what to do about this? Thanks. Happy Mae

OEMIG05 is a program used to convert (migrate) from IE/OE 4.0 to IE/OE 5.0. No need for it to run correctly.
The OE program is MSIMN.EXE (don't know why it's called like that). You can try to in directly, but I don't think this will make any difference.

I assume IE works, and the problem is restricted to OE.
- The suggested repair is the first thing to do, indeed.
- To exclude the possibility of corrupted files, move ALL files in the folder then dbx-files are in (something like C:\WINDOWS\Profiles\K.Bakker\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Mail) are in to a backup folder (the folder should be totally empty). Then try if OE runs (it will create empty dbx-files).
- To exclude malware, run
- If on dial-up, see what happens if run OE while not being connected to the net, and answer yes when it asks you if you want to work offline. This might be difficult if you're on cable or adsl, but if the experiment works it could limit the area concent to local or to Internet-connection.

Hope this helps.

1. The article [Q295965] states that when OE is started, some existing folders (Inbox, Sent, and so on) or personal subfolders may be missing and can be caused if the file "Folders.dbx" (the Indexer) is damaged or corrupted. To resolve this issue, rename or simply delete this file for the impacted identity, and then start OE which rebuilds it. Additional reading concerning the "Folders.dbx" file, [Q233264].

CAVEAT: The Folders.dbx file keeps track of Active News Group Subscriptions and the information is lost when the file is deleted. Again be advised, the file Folders.dbx is the file which categorizes and maintains the default mail Store (in OE, click Options, the Maintenance tab, click Store Folder, and then make a note of the path) and default OE files.

2. Even though you did not speak of an error message rendered, read the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) article "OLEXP: How to Troubleshoot the Invalid Page Fault Error Message (Q275543)". Ensure you troubleshoot anything pertaining to OE and MSIMN covered in the links regardless of whether MSIEv6 is listed are not. Microsoft has not in numerous cases updated these articles to cover all versions of IE.
