It is a security feature that is enabled in Outlook Express, also can happen in Outlook.
So many people were getting viruses via those two popular mail tools (either with an attachment or a link that when clicked on took you to a website that could also load you up with a virus) that MS decided to patch those protections in the safer mode. By stripping those types of items from your email, either when you send it, or perhaps when someone tries to send you one.
If this PC is on a company internet, you may not be allowed to disable those protections. But if this is at home, on your own PC, I am sure there are ways to get it back the way you prefer.
I won't tell you here, because that would be irresponsible of me to tell you how to unprotect yourself, but it is a simple chore to find out for yourself. Just 'Google" for an answer.
One caution FIRST! Make sure that you have a good virus checking program that you frequently update, that will watch over those attachments and links that you send or receive. You just can't be too careful.

How do I stop OE6 from removeing my attachments?
I don't use it very often, mostly I use Yahoo and Hotmail. When I try to send a page or link OE6 will strip it, does't make any difference what site it is.
My PC is working great except for this and it's probably a minor adjustment.
