Not sure what we can do. Sounds like you'll just have to wait for the developers to get around to making a non-PPC version.
And just as a general rule, it's not a good idea to rely on software that needs support software in order to function. So, any program that needs Rosetta to function still, 5-6 years AFTER Apple made the switch to Intel CPUs, probably is something you want to find a replacement for. Same goes for programs that have effectively been abandoned, either because the company behind them went out of business, stopped making that particular program, or you've just been too lazy/cheap/stubborn to upgrade.
There are probably a million and one good reasons why what you have works just fine, blah blah blah, but at the end of the day, it doesn't make those programs magically work again. Not to belabor the point, but when Snow Leopard was released, Rosetta was made an optional install by default, which was something of a warning that it was going to go away. And I know you said you just bought your iMac a month ago, but others may come along later and read this, who seem to be so obtuse as to miss anything short of a giant neon flashing sign... And maybe even that.
NoMachine NX (secure remote access to servers on Linux boxes) is a tool I use all the time in my business. It works fine under Rosetta on Snow Leopard, and is the showstopper preventing me from an upgrade to Lion. (I have 10.6.8 on an i5 purchased about a month ago.)
