by Ken Deyell / January 21, 2010 8:53 AM PST

My monitor flickers on and off 3-4 times at the end of the boot up cycle, and I thought this may be "driver" related.Installing the updated driver from Mftr. site went smoothly, but when I did a "driver update check" in "device mgr." it reinstalled my original driver dated 6/19/08 My OS Vista home premium 32-bit.Is this a case of knows best.?

Don't Update From The Device Manager
by Grif Thomas Forum moderator / January 21, 2010 10:51 AM PST

Unfortunately, it doesn't quite work as you would think. Instead, it tends to find a suitable driver of it's own choice, NOT necessarily the best. If you'd like to keep the newest driver, simply install it and move on.

Hope this helps.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
