The OEM OS dies with the machine. There are plenty of web pages on that but here's one.

I have a gateway nv-53a laptop. The screen gave out so I bought another and installed it. Then the motherboard fan went out so I thought I would fix that too. I failed, I cannot figure out how to get the motherboard out to get to the fan (nothing I could find had a fan which was installed on the bottom of the motherboard and I am giving up). Anyway, the laptop had windows 7 64bit home installed on it. I have geek squad recovery cd's (4) and am wondering if its possible to take the operating system and somehow transfer it to another system. Can anybody point me in the right direction to do that?
Thank you...............
